I'm not saying these areas fit the poster's requirements at all, because they don't, but your orange dots painted REALLY broad strokes on many areas that are FAR from being the slightest bit "poor" or "run down" by any stretch of the imagination- I find it a little laughable that you don't have the Columbia Heights and Hilltop areas oranged out, yet you have conversely "orange-lined" all of Robbinsdale and Golden Valley . What kind of criteria are you using to determine "poor" and "run down"?

Camden Northsider,
You are correct, my photo was slightly exaggerated. My point was simply to convince him that the northwest sector wouldn't really work for him at all. It is true that Golden Valley and Robbinsdale probably have decent transit and are not poor, but I don't think they fit his description. If I could shade it in again, I would probably just shade North Minneapolis and maybe some areas of Brooklyn Center. I know some neighborhoods in North Minneapolis are better than others but I would argue that those areas are on the very western and northern borders.

I made a new one (I can't edit my old post anymore unfortunately)

Over in Northeast, I actually think that the area around Hennepin and Central would have been a good fit if it wasn't so noisy there. The OP stated he liked something that was quiet.

Thanks...sort of. I can definitely understand your intentions related to the OP and agree with them, and appreciate your map-making abilities and disclaimer that your map isn't based on objective data, but we're going to have to agree to disagree a little bit about your map mainly in the terms of (to quote Uptown) other people that might stumble upon to this thread for their own research purposes. The map gives the impression that all poverty or anything else is in the area is concentrated on the northside, which isn't the case- a lot of areas shaded red on the map (by virtue of being east of 35) and/or that are not shaded at all are lower-moderate income, and you are still painting broad brushstrokes by saying all of North Minneapolis is "poor" and "run-down" by virtue of your definition of the orange-dotted area. A couple of for instances: of the areas shaded orange include Heritage Park, home of the very large and upscale International Market Square lofts building, and a nice area in general straddling the boundaries of North Loop (which a good chunk of may also be oranged out on your map, can't tell without being able to zoom in). Similarly, you have nothing shaded orange in the NE corridor, and I would argue that there are some good chunks of the Northside that are as nice/nicer (including being higher-income) than a number of areas in NE Mpls and Columbia Heights (not to mention Hilltop, a trailer-park city). And your shading of B.C. seems pretty arbitrary.

I don't mean to beat a dead horse here, just mainly pointing out that your very scientific-looking map is based in a lot of assumptions/perceptions versus real data.

Is being a bank cashier being a professional?

Good luck in Chicago. Sounds like you just needed a total change of pace. You realize, I'm sure, that there are weirdos in Rogers Park; it's also known for its diversity, including economic, so it's not just wealthy yuppies, and it's not at all suburban if you are indeed more of a suburban type. It's certainly a lot more exciting than Eagan!
