I have some bad news. Due to some turn of events, I have to push my trip back to March, which means no Winter Carnival for me. I still plan on visiting the Twin Cities. I just have to do it in March, around Spring Break.

I had to delay the trip even further. I'm kind of embarrased about it too. For some reason I couldn't get in contact with my aunt. I might just have to wait until the semester is over and make a quick daytrip to the Twin Cities.

It's only 1100 miles. We've driven it.

I don't have a car, barely know how to drive, and I have never driven that distance in my life. It's part of the reason I am trying to get a flight to Mpls. Now I am just waiting until the school term is up to do some traveling. My alternative is to see if some friends of mine want to go to Mpls with me in a car. Problem with that though is that even though it will be May, if I mention Minneapolis to someone in Georgia, almost automatically, snow and ice the first things to come up, and especially now when the weather in Atlanta is getting warm, I have to come up with a convincing argument.

It does take a while to drive, and after you leave southern Illinois the scenery becomes a lot more tedious ("Oh look! Another field!").

Tell them the Twin Cities metro in the summer is green like Atlanta with temps like an Atlanta springtime (not too hot until mid-July, anyway), and that it has beautiful lakes all over. Starting in May, anyway.

After the first trip (my wife and I each driving a U-Haul truck with a car on a trailer behind), the subsequent ones have been a breeze.

That's exactly what my parents did the first time. Darned airlines and making people move...

Later, I drove from Duluth down to Atlanta in early June with no A/C.

I wish I would have had a breeze...
