A friend is coming into town mid Nov. and I'm looking for some ideas? Lived in this state all my 45yrs but have never gone down to the ciites to do anything like this, with the limited time I thought it best to hang around the cities. We are both very outdoors people and would be cool with any hiking ideas or something that would kind of get us away from the crowds during the day. Then there's the nighlife?? we are not clubbing type people but would be cool with a blues bar or someplace quaint were we could kick back have a couple drinks and converse, last but not least a nice romantic Italian place?

If you want outdoors experience, you walk outside - it's that simple. Try out a couple of those green bikes that are for rent all over the place. The Minneapolis chain of lakes (Nokomis/Harriet/Calhoun/Lake of the Isles/Cedar) will give you all the walking or biking you can stand in a day - and there are some magnificent houses around those lakes. Uptown has a hopping scene full of young adults - you could check out a movie at the Uptown or Lagoon, and drink & dine at any of a number of places on Hennepin or Lyndale. Downtown has more bars and great restaurants than you can do in a week - you might have fun at the Local, Brits, Hell's Kitchen, Manny's, and plenty more. Wanna catch some jazz - go to the Dakota on Nicollet Mall. See a show at the Guthrie, Orpheum, Pantaget, Walker Arts Center, Mpls Institute of Arts...

All in all, you've got more options than time to exercise them here. Try anything and have fun.
