Hello All!

I am moving to msp very soon, and my work place is in 6200 shingle creek pkwy, brooklyn center. I am looking for a place less than 15 mins drive from my work place. So, what is a decent, closest place to live around brooklyn center?

Thanks in advance!

Do you want city or suburbs? Are you looking to rent or buy? What do you want in a neighborhood? There are plenty of areas that are nice very close to your workplace, but it'd help to know what type of area you are looking for.

DO NOT LIVE IN BROOKLYN CENTER. It's a sketchy area.

Look to the north side of Brooklyn Park; Plymouth, Maple Grove, Osseo, Anoka, Coon Rapids. All of those are decent to very nice suburbs.

lol.
Brooklyn Center is 'Minnesota Sketchy'.
There is nothing to be afraid of there.
It is the suburb with highest amount of African American residents. Olders post WWII homes and streets.

If lower income, African-American/Asian populations, and Older Homes = Sketchy, then I have no clue what this world is coming to.

Mind you I grew up at Zane and Brooklyn Boulevard in BP, and people call that area scary, when it's really not that bad.

I'd connect with CamdenNorthsider on this one as he has TONS of knowledge about the surrounding area and especially the Northwest corner of North Minneapolis. I was personally thinking you should look into that area and if you do I'd start by talking to CamdenNorthsider.

My wife's family is from Shaker Heights, OH, which is right next to the dreaded east side of Cleveland, and when visitng Brooklyn Center/Park to go to Applebee's she thought the area was "sketchy" and I promise you they live near some ROUGH areas in the Cleveland area! I found that a little surprising considering where they live but I guess it's a little sketchier to those who are unfamiliar with the area than one might have originally thought!
