If MoA were missing from the Twin Cities metro, the area would lose little of its vibrancy, most of which is concentrated in Minny-SP proper(s) already.

MoA, being the revenue titan that it is, should've been built in suburban Omaha or Kansas City, MO, which would've garnered either city a higher status/profile/etc. than today. These two metros are the closest to the geographic center of the Lower 48 states, BTW.

Looking it up it was apparently designed by a Canadian group and Minnesota was closer to them.

So developments like MOA should be located to "garner a city a higher status/profile/etc."? I suspect the developers consider other things than that.

I think the "Meadowlands Shopping Mall" in NJ will top it as the biggest mall in America when it opens in mid 2011.

The Meadowlands will be the largest retail and entertainment complex in the United States and the third largest in the world, with 4,500,000 square feet (418,000 m2) of entertainment, sports, retail, office, and hotel space. The project resides within the Meadowlands Sports Complex, in place of former underutilized and existing parking areas. It will be accessible via the Meadowlands Rail Line.

IT HAS AN INDOOR SKI SLOPE AND THE TALLEST FERRIS WHEEL IN THE WORLD!!

To be honest, I think it's the dumbest location ever. NNJ has the more malls in one area than anywhere else, I don't think it's going to do so well- either that or other big malls like "The Jersey Gardens" and "The Garden State Plaza" will be strongly effected. Maybe it will soon be a tourist attraction for NYC tourist, but if not that, I see an epic fail.

If Manila can have multiple megamalls, then the upper Garden State can too.

yeah it's funny that a city in a third-world country has 3 of the top 10 largest malls in the world. I've been to them, they're nice. The mall that they list as the second largest mall is actually right across the street from another huge mall, owned by a different company. They're connected by a pedestrian bridge. Both malls are always very crowded.

Phase II expansion of Mall of America when commenced will make it the largest mall in America again, and the largest in the world.

I hope they get public transit in that thing, I would not want to walk that.
