I'm planning on doing some driving around Waukesha and Brookfield shortly, and I wanted to get a sense of some of the nicest/prettiest areas -- be it particular neighborhoods, a downtown area, a park area, etc. Any ideas welcome! Thanks!

What's your idea of pretty? Is it historic properties, new development, green space, or something else?

Carrol College area in Waukesha. Pretty much it. Elm Grove is bordered by Brookfield on 3 sides, kindda has what you're looking for around Sunnyslope and Watertown Plank.

Any particular purpose (house hunting, photography, killing time)? If you're looking for older, pretty suburban areas try Oconomowoc near Lac Labelle, Fowler, and Oconomowoc Lakes (watch out for speed traps by Ocon. Lake) or Delafield off of Hwy C (very small, but pretty). Try the scenic drives through the Kettle Moraine (esp. Waterville Rd) for rural. I don't know how much luck you'll have in Waukesha unless you stay near Carroll.

Also avoid the subsidized housing area on Grand Ave., just south of College. Also includes part of Newhall, Hinman, and Jackson Ct. Lots of undesirables walking around that area.
