My husband and I grew up in Lansing and have lived here all our lives. Now that we have a baby of our own, we have decided that we would like to live somewhere that is NOT Lansing because of the rising crime rate. I understand that there is crime anywhere you go, but the crime is starting to effect our immediate area- Waverly Schools area. It is making me nervous. We have been house hunting for about a month now, found a house in Charlotte this weekend and put in an offer. Anyone have an advice in regards to their school, crime, town in general? I really hope that we didn't make a mistake on the offer...thanks!

It is an ok little town, ok school (not great, not terrible), and overall quiet community. Folks in the Charlotte area are different, I can't really describe the mentality other than rural in thinking. I have property between Charlotte and Eaton Rapids, have done quite a bit of business in Charlotte.

Charlotte has good schools. Nice small town and close to Lansing and Battle Creek. If you don't like lots of people, head out of town during Frontier Days. HA!! They have the county fair there too. Far as I know, very low crime rate.

Default Charlotte is a nice quite community

I think their idea of crime is Otis getting drunk and having to lock himself up at the local sheriff's department.

Lived in Charlotte for 37 years. Family from there. Loved it. Good family town and schools. Only reason I moved was daughter in Northern MI.

Thumbs up Charlotte

I've grown up here, 43 yrs. Charlotte is a decent little town, a place where the majority of the people you encounter are still friendly and decent. Crime rate is relatively low. Great place to raise kids in my opinion. I don't think you will regret your choice of towns.
