I saw o.n a map that there were 3 or 4 counties of majority Dutch population in Michegan. A couple of those counties were on lake Michigan. Anyone know where they are and the names of the cities in those counties?

Don't know for sure, but I'm guessing they include: Van Buren, Allegan, Ottawa, and Kent.

Ottawa County. Holland, Zeeland, to Grand Rapids - the Dutch Reformed Church belt.
The Dutch Imprint in West Michigan

Other towns: Vriesland, Drenthe, Overisel, Graafschap, OK I don't know 'em all.

Another one that people probably won't think of is Missaukee County, to the east of Cadillac. There is a town there called McBain and it's another Dutch stronghold. Sort of like a mini version of Ottawa County, complete with a few Dutch Reformed churches and lots of dairy farms.

But yes, the biggest one is obviously Ottawa County. Kent County has a lot of Dutch people as well, but it is more populated in general and is not majority Dutch by any means. You'll also find pockets of Dutch in Allegan, Muskegon, and Kalamazoo counties.

2nd the McBain area. I lived there back in the late 70's and was astounded at the percentage of last names that were Dutch. I found it to be one of the friendliest areas I have ever lived.
