Ummmmm did I sleep through the summer, what the heck is going on it feels like late September, we had to take out grandma's quilt last night. Are we going to just skip the rest of summer or are we going to get some more summer weather this year?

I've been sleeping with my electric blanket on. I think this will continue and be another summer of cooler than normal temps. I even see a few road side trees starting to change color already. As someone without AC in the house I can say it's been much more comfortable to not be sweltering in 90 plus temps, but do I like this type of summer over all? NO. These cooler temps seem to have really impacted local businesses. I don't see many tourists around, and it's normal to see towns packed to the hill if it's a hot summer. In the heat folks are always headed for the lakes to get out on the water. This sparse summer will make it harder to get through a harsh winter if that's what we're going to get this year. Just like the winter fans want tons of snow we summer people like to actually have a season of summer too. Oh well, what can we do? I still love Michigan, but I wish it had been warmer this year.

I am enjoying this weather too, but next weekend we are camping in Holland, and I'm thinking about leaving my swim shorts at home.

If you look on NOAA's site, you'll see we've had just about normal temps so far. Michigan should not be in the upper 80's and 90's, that's not normal and if you want that crap, this weekend and the following week should please you. So, if you don't like these temps, I'd say you better move south.

Its supposed to warm up again next week, back to normal to slightly above normal temps.

This is actually rather typical to have some weeks in the 70's, just we've had such a string of abnormally hot summers over the past decade we started to accept having multiple weeks on end in the 90s.

Great weather for the golf courses, not so much for water sports.

Right now the lower number of tourists is do to the fact that summer is essentially over. Once August hits, all of the back-to-school stuff goes into full swing. While Michigan schools don't go back until after Labor Day, all of the high school sports practices and activities all start-up in early August. Many other states go back to school in Mid-August.

July is really the peak month for summer tourism. However, I find mid-August through October to be some of the most enjoyable time of the year in Michigan.

I do wonder if perhaps our snow levels this winter will come back in full. The last several weeks have been overall pretty dry.

It's been in the 70s around here lately during the day, looking on the 10 day forecast, I see one day of 89....ugh. Even that is too warm, lol, but it's at the end of the month almost.

A couple of mornings ago, I took my husband to work early in the morning (6:30), and it was 39 degrees out, lol!
