Ive thought about moving a few times but have been turned off by every place I researched so I guess I'm staying put.
This has been one of the worst winters. Ever on record. If I could move I would move ASAP, but it's pretty much family holding me back. I have a tent so I could squat in the Florida wilderness- just have to watch out for alligators and immigrants! I think about leaving all the time though.

The same as Michigan out of property taxes and food taxes. Tennessee also doesn't have income taxes.

Unless you own property as a non-resident, in which case hold onto your wallet.

I pay $1100 per year for a house and 7 acres near Lansing. It all depends on the area.

Yup. Looked into it and that's why I don't. It's a shame since some areas in the UP now and for the foreseeable future have only vacation home potential. The manufacturing, transport and mining ain't coming back any time soon or on the previous scale.
