Gameguy, it wouldn't be hard to find a better "lively downtown" than the one here in Traverse City. There are four bars in a two block area, only one of those (Union Street Station) has live music. All of them cater to the younger crowd, between 21 and 30. The other venue for live music, the Loading Dock, is changing to a vegan restaurant. I'm not sure what downtown Holland has to offer, but I'm sure it could beat that.

I have been to both. Holland is fun but Traverse City wins out. I'm 25 so I was interested in exploring the night life in both cities and TC wins out.
