"I see sadness, worry and sanctimonious anger in these questions and reply's. There is no compassion nor understanding, just dig in and criticize those less able to care for themselves. "

The reason why is because she actually moved to get welfare... I am guessing she may already be on welfare, and thought she would get more welfare moving here because of something she read online....

Instead of I dunno looking for an actual job before moving or acquiring a job where she was living.

You can go to Detroit. I am sure you will meet a lot of people who would be able to guide you and give you useful information.

But then, perhaps you are perfect, and have never made a mistake. Others have and if a lending hand helps, then instead of hating try to offer solutions.
To anyone who is facing despair go to your local "Human Services" building, be patient and be polite and honest, do not despair, there are people that care.
What is sanctimonious about suggesting that the baby's father step up and take responsibility for his child? I believe that there are laws to this effect, aren't there?

I've met a lot of single young mothers over the years who have decided that they hate the father of their child and want to write him off and "go it alone". Of course, "go it alone" doesn't really mean going it alone, it means that the hardworking tax payers get to support the child financially because the father is being let off the hook. Sorry if you don't like it, but this is selfish. No one told anyone to have a child with someone that they can't stand or who is a loser who won't take responsibility for the child or children that he brings into the world.

I hear you! There are a thousand different scenarios involved in the background of those reduced to seeking public assistance, however, IF one of those involves your lack of commitment to finding a job and helping support yourselves and instead going on the public dole, count me in among the "sanctimonious"! Michigan has been a magnet for those seeking easy and generous welfare for too long.
