Do you know which Ford location your husband will be working at (pardon my poor English please)? Ann Arbor does sound like a place you would like, but if he's working closer to Detroit that might be a rough commute. Also take a look at Royal Oak and Rochester Hills, both nice communities with good schools, parks, local boutiques, and plentiful art festivals.

I would also encourage you to look into Saline, MI. Very close to Ann Arbor, and also quite artsy. There's a wonderful group of artists who are really great people at 212 Arts Center (a few fabric artists - I even know a felt maker who lives in Saline who is a good friend). My husband and I are thinking of moving from another area in MI to a location with better schools and more arts focused and kid-friendly, since we are adopting. We would like the same things you are hoping for and we are looking at Saline, Dexter, Plymouth and, of course Ann Arbor. Best of luck! Ann
