Wonder what SFH go for and they're pretty old properties, no matter how remodeled they may be but you do have to pay CG taxes.

I don't think Faculty will live there and students can't afford that, much less "staff".

Of course I mean it is outrageous high. I can find two bedroom apartments at $1400 easily.

Wow this sounds like a nice place Andrea. Why don't you post this in the Classified Ads section of CD also. Maybe you could post it in the Miami forum under it's own thread title and maybe there will more lookers. Good luck. (and congratulations).

Sorry to revive an old topic, but I'm moving to Coral Gables to go to University of Miami for grad school. I will be moving down mid august, but will be down there in a couple weeks to find a place. I was looking for input on the areas to look. I'm looking to spend about $1000-1200/ month for a 1 bedroom place. Is this realistic? Any advice would be appreciated. I'd like to live within about a mile or so from campus.

Thanks,

Phil

check out the apts in the area around SW 59th Court at SW 74th Street....in that area are several apt buildings - i lived in 2 of them and can recommend them. you'll be close to UM (metrorail is right there), bars, shopping, grocery etc. etc. it's a great little area. good luck.

Thanks so much! I will definately look into that area. I really like a more laid back vibe rather than the traditional college douchery...is this a good area for that?

it's a great area b/c while there are lots of college students/grad students in the area, it doesn't have a college student feel to it, there are families, young adults, older people etc. i really think you can't go wrong there...and you will definitely find a 1bedroom for that price. i just moved a few months ago from a 850 sq.ft apt that was under $1K. i absolutely loved the neighborhood...there's so much within walking distance, fun restaurants, bars, winn-dixie, movie theatre, bowling alley (shoppes at sunset place) etc. let me know if you have any specific questions about the area i will be happy to help.

Hey guys, I just enrolled at UM and looking for a place (1/1 for around 700/mth) to stay for the year. The closer to Brickell and The Roads the better. Can anyone help out?
