To live in? Are you kidding?

And Orlando 4th? Who is paying for these misleading figures? Orlando and Miami Realtors Association? lol.

People have romantic ideas about cities based on what they see on on TV and in movies, or what they experienced as a tourist. You don't think about the quality of the schools if you're laying on the beach for a week. Actually living in a place is a completely different thing.

It's interesting that Miami and Boston are almost tied. I've lived in both places, and they are so different, it's hard to compare. Biomedical researchers and would-be beach bums have different priorities.

Well, it's based on perception, so many of these people who see Miami in a positive light probably have never been here, or have only passed through as tourists.

Also, it was interesting to note in the full article (available in pdf) that older people (50+) do not see Miami as all that attractive. Moreover, it was the low income earning group ($30,000 or less) who perceived Miami favorably, and not the high earning income group. So the old stereotype of Miami as a place for the retired and well-off seems to be waning.

figures a positive article about Miami gets shot down in this forum. Anyways a friend of mine who works in the banking industry is moving to Miami soon and yes he is in his mid 20s. As for Orlando blech! I live here and would gladly go back to Miami if I could.

I respectfully disagree. I like Miami.

I just thought the article was worth posting since the 'perception' of Miami, as well as other cities, was broken down and analzyed by demographic categories. I didn't really want it to turn into another Miami-bashing thread, though it might already be heading in that direction.

Rogerbacon, I know what you mean man. It's easy for others to say good thing about Miami when they dont live here. Tell them to spend a week in Miami, look for a job, look at the cost of housing, and check out the customer service and see how friendly everyone is, lol. That'll change minds.
