Again I do not see Miami as paradise but believe that having lived all over the world could help me adapt maybe better than people who are not used to different cultures.
For the moment i am in Montreal but if I get the oppertunity... I will take a risk to move with wife and 2 children...
Your international experience will help you, but you are not the average person who comes from other parts of the U.S. to live here. You might be very happy here. You won't know for sure until you try it.

To me, climate is a very important determinant in quality of life, but it's not the be all / end all. If it were, I'd move to Maui (where I have friends, have spent time, understand the job and real estate market, etc.) -- but I have no plans to do so at the moment.

You left out extremely rude and self-centered.
Never got that off the movies or tv shows.

"Most Americans don't have the qualifications to get a good job in Miami."

Qualifications? Is that code for "bilingual?"

That's a good point, but I was thinking more in terms of an M.D. or J.D. with international experience.

If someone has and MD or a JD, they will probably look elsewhere to live instead of Miami. Although I know S FL and Miami seem to attract a lot of fraud and sew-happy people, so the need for a JD is definitely there.

Be that as it may, there are a lot of doctors and lawyers in South Florida. A lot of lawyers got their J.D.s in Florida, but the physicians tend to be from all over.

I'm talking about lawyers who are members of the Florida Bar, and doctors who are licensed to practice here. I would wager that there are no unlicensed or fraudulent doctors at Bascom Palmer or the Sylvester Center, or hundreds of other facilities.

Where do most of these cases involving cosmetic surgeons who are practicing without a license and without the education usually happen?

A lot in South Florida, southern California, and other immigrant communities. There are also a lot people in the illicit drug business here. I understand that your point is to bash Miami in every way possible, and there is a lot bash-worthy here, but at the moment we are talking about why people in general would want to live here.

In any case, if you're skilled at committing fraud then you have a very portable occupation, and can probably prosper anywhere, so we'll add that to the list of useful skills in Miami, along with an M.D., J.D., and international trade experience.

So when are you leaving--you've been bashing Orlando forever now. I lived in southeastern PA for 10 years....YOU COULD NOT PAY ME TO GO BACK THERE....You are going to have all the problems up there that you have here--I'm not really sure which problems you think you are leaving behind--except that you are gonna make more money....but you are going to pay more for most everything too.

I guess if you like cold, snow, ice, grey skies for 6 months, etc. you would be trading our 6 months of heat, humidity and sunshine for that;

So really, when are you leaving??? I hope it turns out to be everything you hope it will be.....

Sunshine isn't everything in life.

If it's cold, put a coat on -- the cold never stopped me from doing the things I enjoy doing (hiking, cycling, enjoying natural beauty).
