I just came back from attending a Food Truck Invasion in Homestead. I would estimate between 300 and 400 people there while I was. I did not hear a word of Spanish! There were Latino people in attendance....but speaking English. Homestead is still one of the most 'American' towns in Miami-Dade County. Just sayin....

It is going on until 10:00. I walked one of my dogs over...about 15 minutes ago and another food truck arrived. It is at the City Church...47 NW 16 Street, Homestead.

I thought Homestead was predominately FOB Mexican? Anyways, the rural parts are beautiful. I'm not a big fan of the part near US-1 tho.

So that is where the food trucks have gone? I have not seen one in months, figured they went out of business. Other than the African areas, Homestead is best in the older neighborhoods. There is a lot of new development near the turnpike and race track, but that is all low quality, higher density cookie cutter condos. The best parts of Homestead are a mile west of Krome.

I think the best parts of Homestead is the area from SW 296 Street south to 304 Street (15th street - Kings Hwy) along Krome Avenue and within 4 blocks west of Krome and 4 blocks east of Krome. This is the old Homestead...no cookie cutter homes. Some houses date back to the 1920's, many were built in the 1950's.
