Hi everyone!

I'm moving to Miami this August for graduate school from out of state. I've been looking at apartments and realized that I definitely will need a roommate or two to cut rent. I thought I'd just post here to see if anyone had any suggestions for apartments, I'd like my part of the rent to be <700 max. Also for anyone who has ever moved to Miami from out of state, how did you find a roommate? As that is my next task. Thank you so much for any suggestions! Btw I'm just about 22, single female, and I speak fluent Spanish so i'm not concerned about being near places with a large hispanic population (I've seen many people post negative comments about this i.e. "you don't want to live there or youll hear a lot of 'no speaka english'
I also plan on having a car with me, so I'm open to living outside of coral gables as long as it's a safe area (I've watched way too much First 48 lol)

if you're going to school @ UM, look into South Miami...very close to UM, walkable shopping/restaurants/mall etc.

it's possible, but it's not pleasant. LOL. if you work standard office hours, rush hour traffic can be UG-LEE.

without traffic it's about 45 minutes drive, so if your schedule is something other than 9-5, it might be not *too* painful of a commute.

I'm also moving down to the Miami area for grad school, but from NJ, and I am considering areas such as Bay Harbor Islands, Aventura, and Sunny Isles....I liked those areas alot, and they felt very safe. I'm also looking for a roommate....If anyone is interested, feel free to email me at pena.mariax@gmail.com

For new students, you could try looking at your college/university; they often have bulletin boards posted in student common areas, as well as forum websites frequented by other students in similar situations.

personally though, outside of a student situation with others going to the same school, I would not be comfortable in just being roommates with a random total stranger in a new city I'm just moving to.

I was new to Miami about a year ago and I went with a Real Estate Company named by Friendly International Realty. They were real cool and helpful. If anyone needs their info, let me know.

Hi, I'm going to law school in the fall at St Thomas and I need an apartment/ roommate. A friend of mine who recently graduated from a school in Miami suggested these areas: Aventura, Brickell, Miami breach, Coral Gables. I am also looking for a roommate! If anyone can suggest a development or an apartment complex I would appreciate it!
