This thread is intended to identify bad behavior that needs to be changed in South Beach. Usually people complain here about the driving but I believe it's bigger than just the drivers. It's the me, me, me attitude across the spectrum.

Walkers
  1. Yield to cars when they have the right of way. This is especially true for crosswalks at traffic signals. Don't blindly walk across traffic that has the right of way assuming that you always have the right of way. You will get yourself or your child in the stroller killed.
  2. When walking hand in hand with you loved one on a sidewalk, don't assume that others approaching you will get off the sidewalk so you don't have to adjust your behavior. File in line as you pass on the right and then go back to holding hands.
  3. On crowded Lincoln Road, don't assume that you don't ever have to adjust your path for others. I see this all the time and won't over adjust anymore to accommodate you. I'll do my part. But, if you dont' do yours, expect to get personal with my shoulder.

Bicyclists
  1. If you are going to ride your bike on a sidewalk in a dangerous road area, you must yield to walkers. It's not the responsibility of walkers to get out of YOUR way , even if you ring a bell.
  2. Do not ride your bike with one hand and talk on your cell phone.
  3. Do not ride your bike and listen to your iPod. In both instances, it will get your killed.
  4. Do not run red lights just because you are on a bike.
  5. Be courteous when riding your bike on Lincoln Rd. YOU must yield to the pedestrians.

Cars
  1. Come to a complete stop at a stop sign or at a light before turning right on red
  2. Yield to pedestrians before turning right on red. They have the right of way first.
  3. Yield to pedestrians in marked crosswalks where there are no traffic lights.
  4. Only drive the correct one way down the alleys. One way does not mean one way at a time.
  5. Do not drive opposite the direction in directional parking lots or parking garages.
  6. ...and for Heaven's sake, SLOW DOWN. You will get yourself or someone else killed.
  7. If you are in the turn lane, turn.
  8. If you are in a forward lane only, don't turn!
  9. Do not pass in a lane that is ending (you know which ones I mean...I see this all the time)
  10. Use your signals
  11. Bicycles have the right to be on the road and are expected to obey the same laws. Treat them with respect.
