I don't know if anyone has mentioned this, but some Afro Mexicans came by way of Cuba. Former Baseball player Jorge Orta is an example of this. https://www.google.com/search?q=jorg...iw=320&bih=416

That is true, also Kalimba has Afro-Cuban roots, his aunt was some afro-cuban singer from Mexico. But there are real Afro-mexicans in Mexico but majority of these famous Afro-mexicans tend to have roots in Cuba.

The olmec people of mexico are believed to have been originally from africa. african skeletons that date back to the time of the olmecs have been discovered in mexico. Statue depictions of themselves also look nothing like the aztecs or the mayans. Nobody wants to accept or even consider africans being the first on this continent. Also why the olmect arent mentioned on the media as much as the aztecs or mayans.

My understanding is that mexico was at 1 point 10% black and I believe their 2nd or 3rd president was black. However most of them have integrated/mixed into general mexican society, hence most mexicans have a bit of black ancestry but there are very few black looking mexicans. Ie. both George Lopez and Eva Longoria had something like 4-5% sub-saharan african ancestry when they took the dna test.

When the original Olmec statues were discovered in the 19th century, it was assumed that they were from Africa because their feature (large lips , flat noses). Most archeologists dismiss the idea that some early African sailors made their way to Mexico. They simply assume that some of the people that walked over more than 10K years ago had those features. There are very dark skinned people in Asia.
