Hi, everyone

I had a baby 3 months ago. I've put on alot of weight and I am very unhappy and uncomfortable with how my body looks. Recently I've been eating alot I eat until I throw up. I can't stop eating, It's not even that I'm hungry. The reason I think I might have a eating disorder is because I feel guilty when I eat and then when I throw up I feel better. I don't force myself to throw up but, I do know for a fact that if I eat to much I will throw up. Its gotten so bad that now all I do is eat then straight to the bathroom to get sick?? I haven't said anything to anyone. If this is a problem then what is it called I do both over eat and throw up (not on purpose) but still knowing thats what will happen. PLEASE HELP!! what should I do and does anyone have any sites that can help me??

Go see your doctor. Eating disorders are touchy things that unlicensed people really should not try to diagnose. My guess is that your eating is a result of stress or something else going on in your life so you have to get to the root of the problem first.

Yes, it's called emotional eating. You are eating so that you don't have to deal with something else that is going on inside you right now.

Yes, see a doctor. This could spiral in so many different directions.
They could also refer you to specialists that deal with eating disorders such as bulimia and binge eating.
You need to get your mind, body and spirit focused....think positive.
I hope you feel better soon.

I just want to say that I think it's GREAT that you are admitting you may have a problem and are going to seek help. That's not an easy thing to do, but it is so smart. You must have a good head on your shoulders.

You should absolutely see a doctor- immediately. Eating disorders are very dangerous. Even though you aren't making yourself throw up anymore, your body has conditioned itself to throw up upon those conditions. It is great that you are asking for help and admitting you have a problem.
You should go to a clinic that specializes in eating disorders. There isn't medication for eating disorders, but psychotherapy is extremely helpful.

Also, here is a weblink
MedlinePlus: Eating Disorders
This can be helpful, but should not take place of seeking medical attention. Look for articles on bulimia (not diagnosing, but that's what you should look at)

Sorry to hear this:
Bulimia is what you call it; You need to call for a workup right away with a trusted counselor, You can't fix this on the internet, sweetie" It sounds like you may have Post-partum (blues) depression; The good news is that there is hope; but it's going to be liken unto a life raft" it won't do you any good unless you reach out and grab hold of it". The fact that you were honest and transparent enough to come on this forum is proof that you need help asap!!
I care about you and IMO you should call your family doctor, if there is a reason why you may not want to divulge this problem with him/her; ( I say this because I don't know the logistics) some people are from small towns where your business is everybody's business; but a referral to a Mental Health Practitioner would be the best bet, your information should be confidential unless you choose to share it with someone. This is dangerous for your health, especially if you are breast feeding, but also because the baby need you now ; a healthy state of mind and physically able to take care of the baby. Your electrolytes are at risk at being out of balance with "throwing up", So tommorow try to call and get some counseling before this goes too deep"; You'll be surprised at how common this type of depression is, and you will be able to get the proper treatment.
Will you give it a try, and let us know how you're doing?
Keeping you in my prayers
Hope to hear from you soon
God Bless

This is a good point. The cause of your eating problems may be stemming from hormones, etc, surrounding the birth of your baby and may be related to PPD. Again, please see a counselor and let us know how you are doing!
