Gotta go with Horseneck on this one too. I went down there on Sunday because of the weather and snapped some photos. It's absolutely beautiful. Sort of under the radar AND the water's warmer than anywhere else in MA. Can't beat it. I lifeguarded there for about 5 summers (last summer being the final one).

The Beach on West Island in Fairhaven is tough to beat too. The actual surf at Horseneck makes it more enjoyable in my book though:

Horseneck is great for sure but there can be a very dangerous undertow.

Hahaha. I know. A photographer sent me THESE photos of a rescue we had to make last year. It happens pretty frequently down there and there's generally a drowning on the beach or nearby every summer (this past summer it was a little girl at elephant rock, right nearby).

It was a fun summer job, but there were about 2-5 days per month where you REALLY had to be on your toes.

Not true, at least some of the beaches are sandy beaches. They do tend to be cold though. To avoid cold water, you'll have to swim in the lakes. Warmest part of the ocean is in August and September.

Crane's Beach, Plum Island, Wingershaek, and Singing Beach are all favorite North Shore Sandy Beaches. Crane's Beach is a favorite due to the fact that you can hike the dunes and have great views of the ocean and Ipswich River at the high point.
