Winchester - renting (apartment, rental, houses)

We are moving to Winchester from Europe, this December and finding it almost impossible to find rental accommodation.

We are a family of 4 with 2 young boys (8 & 10) plus 1 small well behaved "westie".

Ideally looking for a nice 3 - 4 bedroom house, for an initial 6 month let.

The problem we are finding is that there would appear to be very little choice, which I find amazing. The property must be in the 01890 zip area, as we really like Winchester but the schools also get excellent ratings.

Any help or assistance much appreciated.

Have you checked Craigslist? Maybe bite the bullet(finders fee) and hire a realtor. I was looking at Winchester myself(it'll be South Shore-closer to work) looked like a couple of apartment buildings but not alot of rental houses. If you are up for the work you could contact sellers that seem desperate and ask about renting.

I second the suggestion to contact sellers. With winter approaching many would be interested in renting for 6 months with the hope that the market will be better in the Spring.
