Yeah I've heard that Decatur has lots of ghetto. It's not an apples and apples comparison to a suburban town around here.

I'm surprised that there are such nice houses there when the crime rate is higher than Brockton! I don't recall seeing nice houses like that in Brockton...more like ghetto run down ones with satellite dishes hanging off that actually gives the vibe of a high crime area.

There's a good chance that house is in a gated community.

In that area, it's just that one street (Cresentwood Lane) with nice houses. The streets across from it (Lark, Wren, Beech) look very different.

I'm sure it has nice areas, but it's not a place where I would count on using the public schools for example.

The Atlanta suburbs have some really good public schools. Offhand, I don't remember which ones they are though.

I would guess Cobb County does.

According to niche Decatur GA gets an A+ as far as public schools go

https://www.niche.com/places-to-live/decatur-dekalb-ga/

Gets a C for crime, A for night life and A+ for families. Interesting

Why are we deep diving into GA suburbs here? This is about staying in MA (or not).
