Not to mention...these builders are taking away from the New England character, charm and history every time they tear one of these older homes down instead of renovate it.
I find older homes charming as well. Just because something is older doesn't mean it's falling apart or isn't useable.

Commonwealth Ave in Newton is a perfect example. Pretty much every old, beautiful, brick home in that area of Newton has been razed and replaced by a monstrosity.

The third one on your list was way over priced from the start. I don't see anyone paying over $1M for an antique new englander style house with square, cardboard ceiling tiles, even in Duxbury! To fix the ceilings in those 3 rooms is probably a $20-30K project alone.

Also, look at street view...it's a bad location. Right at the junction of all these roads coming together at what looks like a dangerous intersection!

Sad...I'm surprised there is no historical society in Newton that would have put a stop to that?

I love the charm of the first one on that Duxbury list. It's dated for sure but it reminds me of a different time. It is close to the beaches and center of town but literally right in front of the elementary, high school and middle and library and a next to a town pool area. I can see where it wouldn't be for everyone. I'm guessing whoever bought that will be putting a lot of money into it.

I like the last one on this list the best....I think this house came up a few weeks ago on the forum. Only downside is it's on a solid yellow line road.

That does look like a dangerous intersection, but the driveway is designed so they don't have to use the main road. They can enter/exit from the side.

5 bed, 3 bath, over 3k sqft., almost an acre, doesn't appear to need any work (the ceilings don't need to be "fixed"). 750k seems low for the area.

Also note that the tax assessment for 2023 is $934,600.

Several ceilings need to be fixed in the house on Tremont Street.
