Genuinely trying to connect the logic: why do you think the Fed trying to increase unemployment is the same as wanting everybody to return to office?

He has been against WFH since the beginning of the pandemic. It's really bizarre.

There are plenty of people who are in the office who never left. On the other hand some places actually got rid of their offices so for some, there are no offices to return to.

I don't think the Fed wants to increase unemployment. But I don't think the Fed even really cares about inflation.

Given that there's a ton of influential people who want the stock market to go up at all costs, you are not doing these hikes without a good reason. And they do.

What does this have to do with returning to an office or cubicle? And again MANY PEOPLE ARE IN AN OFFICE!!

Traffic levels during the morning are still nowhere near 2019. Clearly a large % are still WFH.

Good!

and I hear otherwise from people here...many people seem to think traffic is back to where it was and so are work parking lots...for those lucky enough to have a work parking lot.

Who are these influential people that want the market to go up at all costs right now?

Wall Street? Sure they can make money if things go up or down but I'm sure they prefer up.

The permabulls will win again because they're getting more stock on sale a la 2020 all over again. The permabears are winning because they finally got to be right for once after 15 years. The hedge funds win either way because they're ... uh, hedged.

None of them are breaking down doors and screaming at their Senator to get the market up ASAP.

The people getting hosed by a tanking market are retail investors and retirees who need to sell/draw down money in the short term, and those groups haven't ever been mistaken for Wall Street to my knowledge.

My attitude will not change regarding WFH and reporting to an office. I'm lucky enough to be in an industry that only continues to grow, whether we have a recession or not. Also, the way I'm compensated is based largely on results versus based on time.
