I have found several useful threads on moving to Mass, but none of it gives me the exact information I am looking for. My family and I will be moving to Massachusetts this summer and we were trying to find a reasonable city/town to live in. Approximately 50-150K people, decent houses between 150-200K and between hwy 95 to the NH border. Any help would be appreciated.

We just moved to Tewksbury and we are minutes from 95/3/3a/93 and 128. It's a nice town. People are friendly and it's easy to get around. Most everything is right on route 38 (main st).

Default Consider Haverhill...

You specifically mention a target population and the NH border, so I'll suggest Haverhill. With nearly 60,000 residents, it's one of the larger cities and it's right ON the NH border. It has decent downtown, a train station that has the "T" to Boston, and Amtrak Downeaster to Maine. Route 95 is maybe a 20 minute drive, via Rte 97 through the towns of Groveland & Georgetown. There are 14 single family properties listed in Haverhill between 150 and 200K, and 21 more between 200K and 235K (a price point that *may* be able to be negotiated down to $200,000, IF the Seller is motivated. BTW, I grew up in Haverhill, so any questions you have, I may be able to answer with some sense of familiarity...

Default Helpful Information

Valerie,
I really appreciate the information. We were looking at Haverhill and the surrounding towns. I have been there a couple of times, but wasn't sure about the availability of homes within our price range. Thanks again.
