Hi.

My husband and I and 3 young children will be relocating to the Boston area. Needham sounds like a beautiful town with the kind of public schools we're looking for. Our housing budget is $650-700K. Is it possible to find a 4 bedroom home that is not a 'fixer upper' and has adequate space for a family of 5? My husband will be commuting to and from Logan so close proximity to the airport is important. Thanks everyone...

Needham is a great town and I can't say enough about how much I enjoy living here. A lot of the towns in this area have much to offer, but Needham just seems to fit what I look for in a hometown so well. There was a great documentary about Needham which aired last night on PBS by the way.

Your budget seems very reasonable to me and I don't see any reason why you couldn't afford a 4 bedroom house in this town that's in good shape. In my experience, the definition of a "good house with good space" will vary depending on who you're talking to. If what you want is a brand new 4,000 sq ft colonial on a half acre then I don't think you're going to find it in Needham within that budget. If you're happy with a 2500 square foot home on a 1/4 acre then I think you'll find what you're looking for. You could get a larger home if you were willing to look at multi-level or split-level style homes or if you were willing to live on a more traveled street.

The last couple of months inventory has been especially low in this town. So, if you don't see something you like within your budget currently listed for sale don't get discouraged. That doesn't mean there isn't a nice house in this town for you. I hope that helps.
