Talk to me about Westford! (Boston, Chelmsford: to rent, house, buy)

Considering Westford as a possible town for relocation back up north next year (used to live in Boston pre-family days.) Husband will work in Maynard or Boxborough, and we (will) have 2 small children. I stay at home so a moms network is really important to me.

Seems like a more affordable option that still has excellent schools...

Any input would be most appreciated!!

Not sure what it is more affordable compared to what? but I'm sure Westford would work well for both husband's job location and a community desire for stay-home mother and family. Best wishes.

Is it really? What is your budget? Are you planning to rent or buy and the size you are looking for.

I was surprised as well... Our budget is $350k, looking for a single family home with at least 3 bedrooms and 2 baths. Help!

I would also consider Chelmsford as well as Shrewsbury down south a little bit.

Be sure to notice the property taxes in Westford. It is extremely upscale and experiencing growth (new mall area, etc). Depending on where you are moving from, taxes on a $350K house in Westford may be a downer.

Thank you!! We are moving from Austin where last year we paid $6k on a $265k house.....

it won't be that bad in Westford. I have seen property taxes close to 9k for a 500K home in Westford. Texas property taxes would definitely be higher than here in MA.
