I just noticed Melrose is going to implement a free full day kindergarten program next year. I was wondering how many other towns offered free kindergarten (full day, not half day) too? All the towns near me seem to charge a tuition.

Charlton has free full day kindergarten.

Paxton has half day kindergarten for free. You have to pay for full day.

I live out in Townsend, about an hour north of Boston, and they have free full day. I wasn't too sure about it at first but it seems to make a big difference.

Suprisingly Wellesley does not offer a full-time public Kindergarten. They have an odd ramp up system where all kids have half-days until almost the end of September. Then they get two full days per week until after April Break when they get two more full days. Wednesdays is always a half-day.

They tried to get a full-time vote on the budget this year to no avail. I think this schedule is crazy when 98% of all Wellesley kids have already attended a full-time preschool and most parents work.
