My wife and I are looking to move from Annapolis into the Owings Mills area. This will be a temporary (1 year) stay fro us, but we are looking to stay in the safest environment we can find that isn't severely over priced. We are hoping to find an apartment that isn't bug ridden, run down or surrounded by Section 8-ers. What are the best areas for us, apartment complexes or should we avoid the area altogether?

You might want to take a look at the Avalon apartment complex. I've always thought of that development as being pretty upscale. There are plenty of apartments in the area that should fit what you are looking for.

Stay away from most complexes around Reisterstown road, that's for sure.

How close to Owings Mills itself do you need to be? There are some great areas around Pikesville. I'd also suggest not looking at an actual apartment complex, but a house rental, as you can get decent deals and not have to deal with apartment complex living, if you know what I mean.
