I'm curious if this intersection (Owings Mills Blvd and Lyons Mills Rd) is a decent area of Owings Mills. I'm a 25-yr-old, single white female, looking for a safe neighborhood. Currently I'm living in Columbia, but don't like it here.

Wow, I lived there for years and it would've been 7 minute walk for me. It's not the best, but it could be much worse. The way the demographics are trending it will be Baltimore in 10 more years (diversity ruined Columbia too), but for now it's fine. The apartments handle business pretty well and I don't think most of them allow Section 8. That however, could change at any time without you knowing it....and then the shootings, stabbings, rapes, robberies, and murders are sure to follow.

There's two developments of town houses right at the intersection you're talking about, the westernmost one looks ugly and the eastern one I wouldn't trade my apartment for...loud, litter everywhere, just wouldn't want to put up with it.

I don't know what they're building north of it, extending the road I'm guessing. I swear, Baltimore County is trying to build as many roads between Randallstown and Owings Mills to try to entice the Randallstown blacks to move there. They'll do the same to Reisterstown (little farther north and west) next and ruin that town too!!!

There's also a very nice neighborhood nearby that corner, road (starts with a "Wy"). If you can afford it that's the place to be, but back before the housing crisis those homes were going for 600K+ Probably still 350-400K now though. Very nice.

The 795 are is better than Columbia in my opinion (I grew up in Glen Burnie), but I'd look elsewhere. You might try an apartment for a year, but check out other places too, especially if you're going to buy.

What don't you like about Columbia? The answer to that question will help you determine whether or not Owings Mills is right for you.
