I've lived in the Ocean Pines/Berlin area for 11 years. Ocean Pines is almost at build out, but my husband and I have enjoyed living here (we relocated from Rockville after growing up in Bethesda). There are about 10,000 year round residents, from retirees to families. Lots of boating, clubs to join, activities for kids. 10 minutes from Ocean City. Berlin's Main Street area is historic and becoming quite artsy. Runaway Bride and Tuck Everlasting were filmed here. There are antique shops, art galleries, and assorted little shops. Snow Hill is up and coming as an artsy place too, but has a way to go. It's a great, quaint little place that is just coming into it's own. I think it will be a super place to live, and would buy a place there myself, if I was in the market. Developers are just beginning on new developments in the area, so you can see that things are moving in that direction.
Ocean City is NOT closed down in the winter (although the boardwalk is). There are shows and activities at the Convention Center every weekend. Restaurants and many shops are open year round.

Hope this helps.

Berlin and Ocean Pines have had a real building boom over the past several years. Both are very nice areas with Berlin being more family oriented with excellent schools. Snow Hill which is the county seat is less populated but currently getting ready to experience a building boom of its own. Real Estate in Snow Hill is cheaper than either Berlin or Snow Hill. Is there specific information you are looking for?
