Looking at a property on man-made lake sherburne in Waterboro - does anyone have any information on the lake i.e. quality, fish, etc?

Default Lake Sherburne

The lake is manmade and relatively shallow. This may significantly limit fishing and boating opportunities. Spring fed lakes offer a greater variety of fishing opportunites, and also help refresh the lake in the event it becomes infested with milfoil or other pests.

Generally speaking shallow water lakes are much more conducive to the warm water species especially largemouth bass and pickeral! the good thing about Maine is one is never far from water and fishing oppurtunities!

We own property on Lake Sherburne. It is an extremely quiet lake, couple jet ski's mostly on weekends. People do waterski on it, depth is in the 12ft range, it is fed by Northwest pond. Very good bass fishing. Tons of lakes within quick striking distance if you want bigger water for a day. Lake is app 155 acres. Glad to talk to you about it.

Default Lake Sherburne follow-up

I am also considering buying property on Lake Sherburne. Was wondering if jfacteau or others have any updated opinions on the lake and the area? There seems to be a lot of places selling there recently so I am trying to find out if there is a reason for that, like milfoil or other invasive species invading the lake? Is it a good lake for kids?

Thanks in advance!
