I wanted to try a coffee shop/cafe type of place with someone in Freeport. I've noticed a few outdoor places around the outlets, but never tried them. Does anyone have a favorite or can recommend a place?

Much thanks.

Default Cafes & coffee shops?

While I spent the entire summer last year working in Freeport, I wasn't able to get out too much. While not intown,The Freeport Cafe on RT 1 just north of the Muddy Rudder is just okay. Seems to be popular with the tourists with the motel just next door. They serve breakfast all day.

Isabella's is a pretty decent place to sit and chat, the sticky buns are to die for.

Petrillo's on Depot Street makes a nice lunch to go!

Azure Cafe is fantastic for lunch or dinner, although I'd recommend waiting for summer for an outdoor meeting.

Then there's the old stand by, Jameson's Tavern, next to Beans, sit in the bar and have your coffee/ lunch.

I think that's about it for in-town "cafes", but Maineah will be back in a few days and can elaborate more on what I've missed.

Perfect. This is a great list mermaid, thanks again for your local knowledge. I think I'll go for Isabella's or Jameson's.

There was a new coffee shop that opened this winter in the shopping courtyard. I met a friend there for coffee and we talked about the fact that they might put tables outside when the weather was nice. I think it's called Mullet's but I can't find it for you on the web - so I'm wondering if I have the name wrong. It's 2-story so you can enter from the shopping courtyard (by the LLBean Outlet store in the corner) or from the street level directly across from the parking lot next to the visitors booth (little lighthouse I call it).

I'll keep looking for the right name, but I thought it was Mullets. Do you know where I'm talking about Mermaid?

If it's new then perhaps they don't have a website up yet. But I think I remember seeing it walking by. It sounds like a nice little corner place, I'll have to check it out.

Thanks for the info!

I left in early October so I'm not aware of any new places that opened through the winter. "Mullets" seems like an interesting name though. I'll be anxious to hear how you like it CP. What Freeport needs is a place that delivers! I have to lock up the store to run out to grab lunch "to go", that's a PITA!

I drove by it today and I had the name wrong. It's Mallet House Cafe at 6 Mill Street.

I still think Freeport could use a full breakfast cafe. Y'know - pancakes, eggs, waffles, etc.

The Mermaid covered it pretty well. There is not a lot of breakfast nooks in Freeport. We go to Cole Farms for breakfast and we live in Freeport if that will tell you anything.
Some places I'd add are the often overlooked Starbuck's on Main St. The breakfast at The Hilton Garden is very nice. There is a place on route one just south of town called Sunrise Cafe' which is just OK IMO. The Freeport Cafe at The Freeport Inn near the Freeport/Yarmouth line is a good place. LL Bean has two cafe's in the main store now. In Yarmouth there is Toddy Brook Golf course. They have a good breakfast. The Muddy Rudder has breakfast/ brunch on the weekends. A nice spot in New Gloucester is the store at Pineland Farms. There is pastry and coffee, no real breakfast. The outdoor seating has a very nice view of Mt. Washington in the distance.
