My friend lost his lettuce in Pownal the other night. Everything else seemed to be ok.

Cool is one thing, frost in June is another! It was cold enough to run the heat up until last night and we did have it on for a while yesterday morning. I usually have the air conditioners in the windows by now but this year I haven't even thought about it. We gave up grilling for a few nights as it was too cold to stand out on the deck and cook unless you wanted to put on a winter jacket! This is April weather around here!

This year, I'm not planting anything until well into June.

I started planting outside. in the ground (not the greenhouses) in April. Nothing is covered and nothing has been damaged by frost or freezing temps. Choose the right plants and seeds and you can grow from April into November.

We have not had any problems either. Ate our first "grown here" salad this evening! Lettuces and spinach...

Last few colder nights I have not covered anything and basil, tomatoes, peppers, potatoes, etc that are in and up and fine (when you can find them in the weeds... LOL)
