Under the IRS reg.s for the credit, you're considered a "First Time Home Buyer" if you haven't owned a home in the past three years.

Quote:
Taxpayers (including spouse, if married) who owned a principal residence at any time during the three years prior to the date of purchase are not eligible for the credit. This means that you can qualify for the credit if you (and your spouse, if married) have not owned a home in the three years prior to a purchase. If you make an eligible purchase in 2008, you claim the first-time homebuyer credit on your 2008 tax return. For an eligible purchase in 2009, you can choose to claim the credit on either your 2008 or 2009 income tax return.

The DD and grandsons arrived this past Saturday for the week. We went to the pet shelter yesterday and picked out a kitten. We got the feistiest little female, as she needs to be able to be an indoor/outdoor kitty and able to defend herself as she gets older. Nice thing about a shelter kitty is they've had their initial shots and such. I felt so bad only taking one as they had so many that need homes.

That's why I stay away from the shelters, if I didn't I'd have a dozen cats.

After being there just shy of a year and a half as an army spouse, my feeling on Kansas is, it's better to be FROM Kansas than to GO to Kansas! Maybe because I literally resided in an area in the middle of 1 MILLION acres of prairie grass.... I prefer the actual sea to a sea of grass.
