In my town in WV there are 17 registered sex offenders of which 7 are women. All within a 3 mile radius of my house. Population of this town is 16,000.

In my town in Maine there are 4 registered sex offenders of which 0 are women. All within a 5 mile radius of my house. Population of this town is less than 2,000.

Of those 4 one was for possessing explicit sexual material and not for doing any act or deed.

I'm just saying what everybody else is saying - these are not all known rapists or child molesters, some were young and indescret with a girlfriend, some may have had porn on their computer at work, some may have just made a suggestive remark.

I wouldn't be worried in either place about actual sex criminals

So your saying that in WV a sizable portion of the sex maniacs are female?

Whereas in Maine they are all male?

From what I have seen following the news, I would think that females here tend to get much lighter sentencing.

Possessing sexual material was enough to, .... uh, never mind.

Now, I doubt that this is your thing (it isn't for most people), but there's an EXCELLENT South Park episode on this exact issue.

It goes basically to the tune of a kindergarten (a little of that South Park Craziness) aged boy sleeps with his female teacher (who's young and attractive... at least according to the responses from the other characters). When the parents find out, they rush to the police station and claim, "Our child's teacher is having a sexual relationship with our child!"

Of course, the police panic and vow to do everything in their power to "destroy the sexual predator." and ask for a description of the teacher. When the parents mention that their BOY slept with his FEMALE teacher who's in her late 20s, the police just reply, "Awesome!.. that's nice!"

anyway, if you want a lighthearted view on the scenario, it's a funny approach.

In reality, female offenders tend to be let off a bit more lightly than their male counterparts. That's at least what I gather from what I've seen.
