When I was a kid many Italian families had lobster for Christmas or Thanksgiving, but I don't know how it was prepared.

I could live off of lobster, but with the prices the way they've been, we've been doing nearly just that, which makes turkey that much more special on Thanksgiving! I've been wanting to buy a bunch of lobster, steam it and freeze the meat, because my fave lobster dish is lobster stew...that stuff is like the water of life to me.
Man, oh man, I've got myself a craving for lobster stew. :-p

Damn GOUT! I'd love to have a big bowl of lobster stew. The family wants me to make one for Friday night which I plan to do, though with my gout I'll be having a leftover turkey sandwich while they slurp down hot, creamy, buttery stew!!!! It's not fair!!!!

Wow. I'm gonna have to get me a few when I come up next week. I think I'll make some stuffed mushroom caps with some of the meat. Yummmmm.

Our family was going to buy lobsters for Thanksgiving day but decided it would be too much with all the other traditional fixings so we decided to have lobster on Saturday. When my sister and I went out to town at 1:30 to go buy a dozen, the first two stores we checked had just sold out. So we went to the only other store that sells them and luckily bought all they had which was eleven. They were $5.69 per pound and averaged about one and a third pounds each. So from about 2:00 on Saturday, all the lobsters were sold out in town and wouldn't be restocked until Monday. We felt quite fortunate that our "Lobster Saturday" plans came together. Most who wanted had two. They were all gone in minutes. Excellent but small. Good lobster, what there was of it. And enough of it too, such as it was.

It's going for $9.99 a pound here on the Cape. I was hoping to buy some when I got up there tomorrow, but with this weather that's blowin' in, it doesn't look like I'll be meeting Maineah or Mermaid this time around.

Glad your Lobster Saturday was a smashing success!! I'm drooling thinking about it!

We did "our part" by making a lobster stew out of seven lobsters for Friday night. They jacked the price up for the holiday so the $2.60 a pound price was up to $5.50 a pound Friday. If I hadn't promised to make the stew I would have skipped it at that price.
They cry and moan no one wants their stupid lobsters then they go ahead and jack up the price when people are actually planning to buy them. I hope they don't sell a single lobster from now until the tourists come back. Let them work at Walmart!

That's about half of the lobs we had over Thanksgiving. I put the last of the meat in the freezer this morning. Scallop and shrimp start tomorrow. The shrimp population is so abundant the season will run from December into May.
