Many companies offer employee discounts, as for being overpriced, many(not all) of Bean's products are american made. Their signature products like boots, for example, would cost less if they were made in China instead of Maine. I guess that would be okay with you?

During Peak season alot of hardworking folks, many who have day jobs, travel to Freeport to work the second/third shifts. I worked second shift. They carpool from L/A, folks from Bath who work at BIA during the day work at Bean, people come from many diferent parts of Maine to earn some extra money and for the discounts so they can provide their kids with an awesome Xmas.

I plan to go to work for them soon hopefully. I like the new Hunting and Fishing store and would like to work on the sales floor. Since I live right in Freeport I'd be looking for the 4:00PM to Midnight shift. Part time to start. Hopefully going to full time later.

DHs Mom was a stitcher for them for years....I'm sure the totes she stitched are still being used all over the world. I don't mind paying for extra when it's made in the US!! (without getting too deep into it if I were in charge I'd have imports taxed so high we'd all have to go back to "Made In The USA")

The Jeep could make that commute in a blizzard LOL! You could probably get jobs for the Bellas there too then you all could have lunch together everyday!

I was wondering about the boycott. Has it hurt their company?

I've always heard good things about LL Bean. I shop at a similiar store out here in CA called REI, when I want to buy just one of something and not a shopping cart full of dept. store clothes. Quality stuff made to last a lifetime. Great for gifts to relatives. Be prepared to hear years later about how the item is holding up to wear. I shop at LL Bean, Walmart and Starbucks on line. Gift certificates and such. I spread it around to all the nice corporatations. I also shop at thrift stores, flea markets, antique stores and yard sales.
