They're selling for 6.99/lb down here...at a local seafood market (not boat prices). That's about what they were last summer from there, I think they bottomed out at 5.99.

When my son's father and I were first dating (he was one of those flat-landers from away-CT), I was of course all being feminine and lovey and all those kind of things you do when you are first dating. About 2 months after we met, I had invited him over to my parents house for lobster. I opened it like I usually do (It was October, so definitely the harder of the hard shells) with one swift hit, only to look up and see nothing but absolute shock and horror on his face- apparently, he didn't think his sweet new girlfriend was a BRUTE, and was just floored at that! LOL....

When I was at UMaine, and they would offer their twice a year lobster dinner in the dining halls, I was the most popular girl in the room! (And that dinner in and of itself, might have been some of the most entertaining times I had at UMaine- watching all of those people who had never even seen lobster trying to eat them was well worth staying in the dining room for a long time after I had finished.)

LOL....Actually I live in Syracuse, so maybe Onondaga Lake, one of the country's worst polluted lake. (And it's even got some salt springs by it.)

Overall, I agree on the hard shell lobster, but the soft shell are sweet, but watery.

Probably won't make it to Maine this year for a lot of reasons.

I remember a time when you could buy culls at Seth's Lobster Car in Blue Hill for $1.25 a pound. No sign; You just had to know where it was. I don't need tools to eat a lobster. I use the claws to break each other. Not hard to do, but it can't be explained. You just need to show how it's done.
