I agree. But the market doesn't seem hot in all areas of Maine. Houses have been sitting for months, years.. Probably Portland to mid-coast is jumping but not much else as far as I can see.

Median Sales Prices were up in the Quarter Ended May 31 in all counties except Aroostock and Washington. Franklin County was up 40.8%, Piscataquis 21.1%, Lincoln 18.0, Androscoggin 15.2%. The median sales price in Maine was $234,000 up by 6.4% over the same period in 2019. Cumberland County's median sales price reached $340,000. Available homes are down 28% from a year ago, high demand and low supply equals higher prices.

Are those sales prices up relative to the prior quarter, or to the same quarter 1 year ago? Tnx

The same 90 day period in 2019.

Thank you, WFM. And of course, my 2 main counties of interest lead the pack!

What I can't figure out, how do people buy a house when the state is still closed? Don't you need to look at the house beforehand?

With the exception of the city of Portland for a few weeks, real estate is and has been an essential business. The number of homes sold in May was down 21% over May 2019, but 2019 and (and the first 10 weeks of 2020) was a record year for number of home sold in Maine. With rock bottom interest rates and fewer homes for sale, demand is pushing prices higher.

Well this looks like the best thread to continue my trek BACK to Maine after many years. I spent two fall, winter, springs back in Dover-Foxcroft in 2008-2009 and again 2009-2010. I came back to CA to work and am finally retiring. Luckily I got my old apartment back on main street, downtown Dover. It's a 2 bedroom, 1 bath, upstairs unit over a gift shop. A cousin owns the building and is charging me $300. a month. I shall close it up in the cold winter months and go back to CA. My son still lives in Sacramento. I have another sister that lives in Cottonwood, CA. I put a trailer on the property there that sits on a 3 acre lot.

My sister and two brothers live in town along with multiple cousins. I know they'll all be glad I'm back to help mow the huge lawn at the old family farm house. Plus a multitude of repairs I'm sure. Lists will never be completed which gives me great comfort. I don't look at lists.

The last time I was here, I met with many of you on here that still participate regularly. We met at restaurants several times and even Eastport for whale watching.

I just found out that the Fly-In at Greenville/Moosehead Lake has been cancelled for September. I also will miss the wonderful old Kenduskeag Canoe Race which was also cancelled because of the mask a rade.

I don't fly, I drive. It's always around 3200 miles. Luckily I have a nephew in Kansas City, MO so that's about mid way across the USA. I'll take two nights to get to MO and another two nights after to get home.

I can get motels for between $45. and $60. almost everywhere with a fridge and microwave too. Midweek rates are real low.

Hopefully, some of you who know me won't mind me doing a Maine thing.....popping in. Only with a modern flair, I'll text first.

I wish I still had that stamina. I’m actually driving 5 + days. It averages 611 miles per day. Plus another 391 the sixth driving day. I like to have the shortest route the last day so I don’t show up with the 1000 mile stare.
