We had lots in years past. One even got in the house one year. Then when that epidemic starting going through the bat population, I started noticing fewer and fewer in our area. Only saw two bats last year. This year I have seen none at all, and we're halfway through summer.

How are the bats in your area?

"Any bats this year?"

Not if you're the Red Sox.

None. Used to see them all the time at dusk chasing mosquitoes.

There's at least one bat flying around nearly every evening here (west of Hallowell). Hopefully the bat population can stay healthy. We plan to put up a bat house.

I haven't seen one yet. I left the porch light on for two nights to see if the bugs would attract them. Not one.

We too were discussing with neighbors that we hadn't seen bats this year. We are in the Sebago region. I think it was yesterday in the paper they were listing 2 species endangered around here because of "white nose".

Apparently our camp was quite creepy in the old days. Hoards of bats would be under the camp and they opened up the lattice (kinda hinged gates) and they all flew out!

I remember, as a kid, sitting on the dock at our family camp and watching the bats feeding at dusk. Also, when I was fly fishing and a big hatch was going on, I was amazed how they avoided my fly line somehow. Haven't seen one in years.
