and he was thinking on of those boats would fit him well. I see online that there are 2 choices, any one company better than the other? I know someone might said just stand on the bridge or in the statesman parking lot but hey the kid wants to be on the water. Since we are driving up from SA I know nothing about the boats.

My favorite way to view the bats is from the lawn area below (but not UNDER) the bridge. A boat might be more fun but it will cost a lot more, it's free to watch from terra firma.

Thanks I have done if by watching for free but kiddo wants a boat and its only like 5 bucks for him and 7 or 8 for me. thanks

If you want to drive to Carlesbad, NM. thousands of bats leave the caverns at dusk and return at dawn. There are so many bats, the sky is black with bats.

I have heard that you should go see the bats in April or May as they go out before dusk since they have just given birth to the young ones. Later in the summer (when me and my kids went) the babies are grown up an they wait for the real cover of night not just dusk...
