Just a quick question. Anybody out and about tonight in your respective areas notice a lot of moose out. I went into Caribou for a martial arts class and on the way home this evening I saw 8 moose in the 11 miles back to Washburn. Not too unusual to see 1 or 2, but 8? Thought it was a bit strange, never seen them after a snow like that either. Maybe they are getting the salt off the road because 3 of them were quite small like yearlings.

It's the salt!
Moose will even reject some puddles of salt over others, depending on the concentration. It's something moose do and not readily explainable.
Oh yes, why do any of you care? Well, you don't of course, but it's a good place to vent when I need to. The ya ya's will understand.
yuppers... sounds like life in the "slow lane" to me! or would that be "snow lane"? LOL
sounds like you are getting a bunch, wish I were there to help shovel. yeah, I LIKE shoveling... the hard way, by HAND. I have this crazy way of shoveling part of the road too.. by the drive... before the plow drivers get there, so they can't plow me shut with a bunch of HEAVY snow. Neighbors laugh but hey, they were still shoveling and I was out the drive! Of course that was WI... maybe plow drivers get out earlier in ME.. we will have to see. The race will be on!
I had my coastal carolina neighbors shaking their heads today... apparently 45 degrees and a dry day ain't good enough for southern window washing! I did the 4 windows on the east side this morning (south and west yet to go before Yule) and everyone who passed by while I was doing the outside gave me odd looks.

Mine usually goes by if it is a smaller storm like we had up here, about 6:00 AM. If it is coming down hard they will come by 2 or 3 times during the night and by 5:00 I have a small mountain at the end of the drive. Have seen my driver go by at 3 in the morning before, it isn't like other places here where the drivers get the night off and go out before "traffic" in the mornings. They are out all night if they have to, to keep the roads CLEAR. By tomorrow even the side streets here will be bare dry pavement. I have NEVER seen the equal to the way they remove snow in Maine.
I thought I saw a glow from way over there!! it's YOU msina!
