Can ANYONE please tell me why Brave Boat Harbor is pronounced "Bray Boat Harbor" by the locals??
I've asked and asked.. no one has any answer...

THanks for the geography lesson. I never heard of the place before but have started reading up on it. As to the question: I would say it's just a typical dropping of vowels or consenants. But that's just my guess only.

No idea.

Yesterday, while listening to the radio I heard the DJ talking about a drawing the radio station is doing. He called it a: "Drawering"

I thought it was funny

It's like "skidder". When you pronounce it the "R" is silent.

I just thought it sounded goofy as he was talking about this contest they were doing and what you had to do to get your name into their "Drawering".

You have to use up all those "r" sounds you leave off other words, best way is to toss 'em in other words that might need one or two extra.

In training for a seasonal job, the instructors added the Rs they dropped elsewhere to the end of words, like "saw". 'I Sawr it.'
