This is not so good quality photo taken in Roque Bluffs in late October. Cold, windy, desolate and beautiful!

Had the pleasure of hunting wild brookies up in the Great North Woods this August. Our libby camp cabin was on Mooseleuk Lake, aproximately 46 miles on dirt roads from the gate. The day before we arrived, another hiker said there were 19 moose on the shores that morning! Imagine that.

We also learned from our guide that this lake, like so many other lakes in the area, were used as "transportation water". A stream would be damned up and the lake would occur. The wood would be cut and logs floated and then the damn would be burst and the water would haul the logs down stream. That's why so many of these lakes are very shallow. This one is only 8' at the deepest.

I so love Maine that our house is on the market in May and we will by buying up there in the fall. Can't wait.
