On the world famous Wassokeag and got some shots. Does anyone know what the creature in the first pic is? Originally thought fishercat, but the loons nest was about 5 feet away had a hatchling and I'd think that fishercats would have attacked the nest. The egg was just floating along the edge of the water. Probably rotted or something...Hmmm....

Oh, and the eagle likes to follow me around.

Looks like a weasel to me, but I'm not an expert on mammals.

Siobjuan, thank you for the lovely photos! Looks like a mink to me, but I'm no expert on mammals. I'm wondering what bird family the egg belongs to...

The egg is a Loon's egg. I had seen the loon on the nest a week before, but kept my distance so as not to disturb.

Yeah! I finally figured out how to post a photo. This was taken in Acadia National Park, near Thunder Hole after a storm front passed by.
