E, those are Eastern Wild Turkeys. This bunch, which included a jake and 3 hens, were on the edge of a field, while a Tom in the woods, was gobbling. I tried to get closer to the Tom to film him, but he ran off..
His gobble can carry for over a mile, trying to entice a Hen. They mate this time of year and a male can lose the blood in his head and beard while strutting his stuff, causing these extremities to turn a whitish- blue.
The female can store sperm in the case of losing her clutch to predators. She can lay up to 3 clutches every spring.
A hen can also become fertilized asexually without help from the male.
Calling in a Tom is an art and way cool.

Default Sand Beach, Acadia National Park

After a late start yesterday because my vehicle decided it wasn't going to Bar Harbor, my daughter and I met up with Mollysmiles and her daughter. We spent the day in Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. These were taken on Sand Beach.

MW, I'm so sorry I missed that trip! If you look up and right of where you're standing, that was the very spot I stood for what seemed like forever and sobbed when I realized I'd finally found home! Gorgeous shots!!

If you'd sipped a little more you might have seen the pink elephants!

Default Lagrange, ME

Every time we go to town, we pass this "abandoned" place -- both sides of the road -- where the buildings are falling down and the land is littered with rusty old piece of equipment and old cars.

Not nice for the environment, but interesting textures; I want to shoot in again in the light of the rising sun, but K stopped so I could shoot some on our trip back home Friday
