Hi! We are thinking of relocating to the Portland area from CT. I am hoping that I can get some opinions on whether we should go for it or continue to have husband commute. Are the schools good? I have seen some houses in the Gray, Buxton, Standish area that I liked. I have heard different things like great place for kids & yet I have noticed a lot of divorce (not that its not everywhere). The cost of living is the same as CT it seems but the rate of pay seems much lower. How does this get balanced??? Will we need to work more to pay the bills??? Hoping to have this be the move to help us chill out as a family....Any suggestions

Hello plenihan and welcome to the forum. For me and others to comment on your specific situation, we need some more information. Where is your husband commuting to, and have you factored those costs in? Will you be working outside the home and if so, in what field? Are you looking for public or private schools? What did you like about the houses you've seen? As for divorce, where are you getting your sources? The last I knew it was about a 50-50 proposition wherever you go. Wages are probably lower in Greater Portland than the Hartford or New Haven markets, but the cost of living should be as well. Let us know more specifically what you're looking for and others will jump in.
